Outdoor wicker chair – when wicker has been cracked and broken, it cannot be repaired and whole structure of furniture must be rewoven, essentially creating a new component. However, wicker furniture takes a lot of damage before it gets to that point. If you have a dirty, dingy or discolored wicker item, you can usually restore it by using a two-step cleaning and recovery process

Mix your detergent. Fill your 5-gallon bucket 2/3 full of water. Add 1/2 cup of TSP solution, except as indicated by product instructions. Also, add 1 cup of bleach to kill mold and mildew. Scrub your outdoor wicker chair with cleaning solution. You should be outside of this part, so it is easy to rinse wicker later and because cleaning fumes can be strong. Use rubber gloves to protect your hands. Dip scrub in cleaning mixture and then start scrubbing. This may take quite a while depending on how damaged wicker is. Wetting her scrubbing brush needed.

Let detergent mixture to sit on chair for at least 5 minutes. This will help kill and bleach any mildew or mold. Rinse braided off. You can use garden hose for this part. Make sure water runs clear before you stop rinsing. Let braided piece to dry completely. This can take up to 48 hours if air is humid. Outdoor wicker chair must be completely dry for last step in recovery to be effective. Use spray paint to coat entire piece of furniture. Make top, bottom and all sides. This will protect braided from future exposure to elements and from casual wear. You can use one or two layers, depending on how you like coverage of first coat. If you think it needs more, let paint dry for 30 minutes and treat it again.
